Is the 3-blade version more efficient in flight performance. Does the 3-blade version require more energy to rotate and therefore deplete the. If you have the power to run the 3 blade at the same RPM as your 2 blade then you have the potential to go faster but that is rarely the case.
On the two occasions I have decided on a 3 blade prop it was to slow down the airplane overall and to reduce prop noise. The noise reduction comes from running a lower rpm as the 3 blade prop is more load. As a two blade will have less drag than a 3 blade while not much more drag there is more drag in your mind and you will use it as an excuse as to why the boat is going slow.
