8 ply vs 10 ply trailer tires. Given I have a choice between an 8 ply ST tire and a 10 ply ST tire same size. To get the higher weight capacity rating I need to inflate the 10 ply over 65 lbs. To no more than 80 psi.
If I inflate to the 10 ply to 65 lbs. It technically has the same weight capacity as the 8 ply. The price difference from 8 to 10 ply is minimal usually 10-15 tops.

8 ply is way more than enough. 10 ply is good for heavy duty off road and heavy loads from what a tire shop guy told me. GM puts P rated tires on their 1500 line of pickups suvs and vans.
You are stepping up from P rated tires to LT rated tiresunless you have a real legitimate need for 10 ply get the smoother riding 8s. My 8 ply 29575R16 BFGs did not wear well at all and I am now running a 10 ply toyo that wears much better. The 10ply will not heat up as easily as the 8 ply.

With that said the 14 ply tires will definitely hold up better than the 10 ply. For an ST23580R16 tire load range G with a 14 ply rating you can use the Taskmaster Provider tire. Jsut remember that 8plys max out at 60 PSI and 10 plys go up to 80 PSI.
Rating may be more or less between different sizes but that extra 20 lbs. Of air for hauling and towing can really make the difference in a tire heating up. And a tread seperation from heat when the truck is loaded can be a ahndful.
You will always want to use tires that have a capacity that is best suited for your trailer. It is always recommended to use tires that are the same size have the same load range and construction on a trailer. If tires that are not matched you could have problems like overheating and overloading which can lead to tire.

One of the major improvements was making plies out of nylon. Its likely you will get more use out of a 10 ply you will also get higher load capacity rougher ride less gas milage more upfront cost. I would make your choice based on how you will use the truck. Gbc grim reapers and kenda htr both work well blackwaters work well pricing will vary any 8 ply with a tread pattern that will work for your type of riding should be good.
