Boat trailer tires wearing on inside. My boat and out board motor weight about 1400 LBS. The ware pattern are the same on both tires and looking at the wheels from back of the trailer I can see they are leaning in at the top and out at the bottom.
But now I notice that the trailer tires are both worn on the inside tread only and very badly for the outside area looks as new. The axle and spindles are straight no bended in any way I have to mention when trailer is loaded tires look tilted to inside hwn unloaded its looks fine. Tire wear on the inside usually indicates that the trailer is overloaded but you would see it on by sides not just one.
That makes me think that the spindle on the affect side is angled slightly up when it. There are a couple of things that can lead to the tires wearing on the inside only. The tires should NOT be leaning in when the trailer is empty. The most common cause for this uneven tire. Had same problem on my boat last year tires wore on the inside called around and took trailer into tire plus and they aligned my trailer.
It was off a good 12inch on one side and now she is fine. Asked the guys what would cause this and its hitting holes in the road or a big bump somewhere. It cost about 75 dollars to do it but worth the price if your going through tires that fastcall around and see if.
