Evinrude water pump replacement procedures. WATER PUMP KITS Evinrude 75 300 HP DISASSEMBLY Rotate the driveshaft counterclockwise to unlock the impeller key. Remove the four impeller housing screws. Slide the water pump off the driveshaft.
Remove the impeller key O-ring impeller plate and gasket. Make sure gasket surface is clean and smooth. 3-4 Nm C B 60-84 In.
Once the keeper is removed shift the lower unit into forward and remove the nut from the upper shift rod. Remove the forward nut and four bolts on the side of the lower units two bolts on each side 6. Separate the lower unit from the exhaust housing by pulling it.

Rotate the driveshaft to engage the key with the impeller and slide water pump down over the key. Be sure impeller key does not fall out of position. Make sure the impeller engages the impeller key.
If you replace the impeller with an OEM part it can easily be double that. Also sometimes a replacement kit is used which contains a number of gaskets seals and wear plates for the pump. The kit usually costs about 30-50.
Finally the actual housing of the water pump may need replacement and this part can be another 15 or more. Pull the lower unit down and free of the upper case. Take the lower unit to a work bench and lay it on its side letting any gear oil drain into a small pan.

Pull up on the driveshaft and remove the driveshaft with the water pump assembly from the gearcase. Remove the water pump assembly for the drive shaft. Remove the impeller plate and gasket.
Remove the water pump grommet all O-rings. A bad outboard water pump will produce lower water pressure than normal. The outboard can stop pumping water out the tell-tale begin to overheat restrict the available RPM allowed and cause significant damage if not corrected.
