However the design is different in that the Buddy Bearings dust cap sticks out more than that in the E-Z Lube system because of a larger grease reservoir within the dust cap. The E-Z LUBE hub has a grease fitting but it is part of the hub which has an orifice allowing grease to go to both inner and outer bearings.

The ones you want are the the ones that have a hole drilled all the wat to the inside bearing on the spindle its selfyouy pull a rubber cap off the end of the steel cap and when you grease the bearings the new grease will push out the old greaseyou wipe off the old grease and keep pumping in new grease until you. An EZ lube spindle will be better because it allows you to insert grease from inside the spindle where the bearings are and push out the old grease whereas with a Bearing Buddy you basically just get to push grease through the front of the hub. I found out the trailer originally came with the EZ lube system from Dexter.
Does anyone have any experience with this system over the bearing buddy type system. My only concern is right under the rubber plug is the grease whereas the bearing buddy has. EZ Lube spindles are generally preferred over Bearing Buddy setups.
The EZ lube allows you to insert grease down the middle of the spindle easily which is basically the best option aside from removing the hub and taking it all apart and cleaning and re-greasing. The Bearing Buddies are great for people who dont have EZ lube spindles but since they. EZ-lube pumps grease from the rear and out the front Bearing Buddies only pumps grease in the front EZ will push water which may have gotten in behind the rear seal and out the front Buddies will nly push grease in the front so if water is in the rear it will stay there.
Its less of a worry with the ez-lube than with bearing buddy or buddy hubs because the passage for grease to escape through is pretty large and of course its going to take the path of least resistance. Spinning the wheel while pumping helps. For an EZ Lube hub the grease cap would have a removable plug to make the grease fitting easy to access without needing to remove the grease cap.
Having EZ Lube spindles can be handy but youll want to avoid overfilling the hub with grease as it can cause the grease seals in the back of the hub to blow out and allow grease to escape out the back of the hub and get all over everything. I guess everyone has an opinion on lubing wheel bearings but I have never heard of a dealer saying bearing buddies are better than shure lube at least in recent history. I just replaced my bearing buddies with super lube hubs the ones referred to above with the zerk fitting on the back side cost me about 110 dollars for two I hope they perform as well as the Shurelube spindle types. For any trailer that will stay out of the water I prefer EZ Lube.

The premise is simple instead of needing to take the wheels off remove the brake drum pull out the bearings manually and repack you use the grease zerk to pump new grease through the spindle while turning the wheel.
